As a result, this anniversary announcement from Square Enix has proven to be extremely well received. In celebration of the 35-year milestone, there will also be a collectible Anniversary Edition that comes with some fun goodies. The games will be available for individual purchase or as a bundle sometime in Spring 2023.

The character pixel art was even redone by artist Kazuko Shibuya, who has been part of the series since the beginning. The original six games in the long-running series have been completely overhauled with new graphics and a remastered musical score by original Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu. This may not surprise those who have been tracking rumors about the six-title collection of games, since there have already been whispers that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection would be ported to other platforms. Square Enix has revealed that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, which have been available exclusively on PC and mobile devices for the past year, will soon be releasing for PS4 and Switch as well.
